College sees record enrollment, produces most teachers in state

Texas State is continuing its historic trend as the highest teacher-producing university in the state, with overall and freshman enrollment numbers in the College of Education reaching record levels this fall.

According to reports by the office of Enrollment Management and Marketing, the College of Education had a total of 4,517 students in fall 2011. Institutional Research’s preliminary student enrollment numbers show 4,646 students enrolled in the College of Education this fall.

QR: What are your favorite TV shows/movies?
KW: I love Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl. I am a soap opera and drama person. I’m just obsessed. I’m a sap for romantic comedies, but I loved the Batman series, which was amazing.

QR: What is the most interesting thing no one knows about you?
KW: I always read the last chapter of a book first, because I am not a very patient person.

QR: What are your favorite hobbies?
KW: I love shopping. I used to live on a lake in Georgetown where I would ski and wakeboard. I prefer to be active and do outdoor things with my friends.

Reporter, author speaks at Mass Communication Week

Robert Kolker, investigative reporter for New York Magazine, discussed his experience as a news reporter and his book “Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery” Tuesday as part of Mass Comm Week.

Many police officers did not think anything extraordinary was occurring when a Craigslist prostitute named Shannan Gilbert went missing in spring 2010. When police discovered four other women’s bodies of similar age and stature several months later, they came to the conclusion Long Island had a serial killer on the loose, Kolker said.
