Theater conference fosters diversity

By:

Directors and actors from all over the country came together for the 14th annual Black and Latino Playwrights Conference (BLPC) Sept. 7-13.

The BLPC is a weeklong event giving theater students and playwrights the opportunity to learn from each other by attending hands-on presentations hosted by seasoned professionals.

Eugene Lee, BLPC creator and artistic director, said the conference was created to celebrate playwrights from different ethnicities and help them become better at their craft.

Lee said the weeklong process is referred to as “finding a play.”
