Bobcats snap losing streak with five-set win against Roadrunners

After three consecutive losses, the Texas State volleyball team returned home to a familiar rival.

Texas State’s five-set victory against UTSA (25-21, 20-25, 25-14, 19-25, 16-14) Friday night snapped a three-game losing streak, in which the team lost nine consecutive sets.

Coach Karen Chisum said the team was embarrassing a week ago but she trusted the process.

“This win tonight was wonderful,” Chisum said. “There wasn’t a team in the United States that needed a win more than we did tonight.”

Being a home made a difference tonight, as the crowd was alive throughout the game.

Jaliyah Bolden, sophomore middleblocker, transferred to Texas State this season and she shined in her first appearance in the Strahan atmosphere.

TopShelf app gains popularity

The success of the alcohol delivery app TopShelf is off to a slow start after the community had to shift its focus to rebuilding in the aftermath of the Memorial Day Weekend flooding.

The delivery app launched in San Marcos just one day before the flooding occurred.

“Unfortunately for the city, it just wasn’t a good time,” said Ryan Browne, CEO and founder of the app. “Now that things are better, business is definitely picking up.”

San Martians can use the app to have alcohol delivered to their doorstep by local vendors in partnership with TopShelf.

Browne initially launched TopShelf at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin in March.
