After Lauren Prater, junior forward, notched the Texas State soccer program's first hat trick since 2010, this was a given.

Prater is the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, capping a weekend in which she scored three goals in Texas State's 4-2 win over Lamar Sunday afternoon. Her goals occured in the 17th, 62nd and 63rd minutes -- the last two happened 38 seconds apart.

In all, Prater leads the team in goals (7) and points (15) this season. Before the season, the intention was to utilize Prater as a backup but she worked her way into a spot in the starting rotation, with six consecutive starts.

Prater's starting role nearly coincided with Texas State's five-game winning streak, the program's longest since 2011 (seven games). In this stretch, Prater has scored six of the team's 15 goals.

Texas State will play its first Sun Belt Conference game Sept. 25 against Little Rock.
